What is Repair Affair?

The Kentucky Housing Corporation developed the Repair Affair program as a volunteer driven, community-based, matching grant program to assist aging, fixed income and disabled homeowners who badly need repairs to their homes.  Repair Affair encourages local volunteers, organizations and churches throughout the state to invest in their communities by preserving homes, by helping neighbors and by restoring pride in the individual homeowners they help.

Repair Affair events are typically held one day during the warmer months of the year with several lucky homeowners being helped by many enthusiastic volunteers.  Home repairs may include hanging gutters, painting, plumbing, building wheelchair ramps, roofing, wiring, etc.

The rewards of Repair Affair are numerous.  Moms, dads, teenagers, entire families and other individuals have been involved in the past two years in our Oldham County Repair Affair events.  The positive attitude of helping others is one of the primary rewards gained by volunteers.  Making a difference in someone’s life is another major reason given by many of our volunteer workers for being involved in Repair Affair.
